The Oxfordshire Short Mat Bowling Association was established over 25 years ago. For many years the association ran alongside the Wantage & District Short Mat Bowling Association until it was wound up at the end of the 2016/17 season.
The association exists to promote, foster and safeguard the game of Short Mat Bowls in Oxfordshire.
Winter Leagues are run in the South & Vale areas, City areas and West Oxfordshire. A well supported Afternoon Triples league is also run through the winter. During the summer a Summer League is run in order to cater for those members who do not play the alternative versions of bowls.
Competitions are available throughout the winter campaign which are open to all members of the association. There are Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours Competitions to enter with any other members of the association.
As a member of the English Short Mat Bowling Association, members can also enter National Competitions in all four disciplines plus Mixed Fours, Over 55’s and Under 18’s.
In addition to open competitions, the association has 2 teams in the inter county championships where teams of 20 put their skills to the test against other counties. OSMBA has won the Summer ICC on one occasion.
Over the years, members of the association have been very successful at the National Championships where our current haul stands at 13 titles.
